Women in Music

This week was about women in music. But I wanted to use this blog to talk about women in entertainment period. Women hold a very large flame in the entertainment world. Look at a successful black woman in Oprah. She is by far one of the most famous faces in the world and a very influential person for the black and female communities. Entertainment is seemingly ran by the women in America. A lot of movies are ran through what we think women will like..thus the name chick flicks. Now why don't people get offended by that, and if a man was to like these types of movies women think less of him. Now there are a few women out there who would like their man to enjoy these types of movie, but a lot of women don;t think it's right for a man to enjoy these movie as much as they do.

Look at a couple like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. They even have a nickname that has their names meshed together. So you can't say that women are left out of this as well. Women are as important to the entertainment industry as any man is. Look at the Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Keri Hilson, etc.. They are icons nowadays to a lot of people around the world. Both men and women alike.

So it is clear that the entertainment industry is nothing without women, but why is this. Is it because of their bodies? Eyes? Hands? No... It is because of talent.

Silly People

I have a question for everyone. No matter if you're a boy or a girl, do we care about what we look like? Now I understand there are those people who "don't care what they look like because they don't care what anyone thinks" but no matter what, everyone tends to have those days where they wake up look in the mirror and realize they don't want to wear this, or don't want their hair to look this way, etc... But we always care what people think, if we didn't care what people thought why get dressed at all. I feel like I'm just rambling, but for all of the differences that I have seen between men and women since I have been in this class I can't help but have the things that makes us all alike.

Now my article that I am supposed to read this week is about women in hip-hop. As we all know we have the women like Ciara, Keri Hilson, and Beyonce that are there for their beauty, bodies, and ability to sing. But what about the Lil' Kims, Missy Elliots, and Foxy browns? These women are pioneers of the hip-hop generation and they did, well a most of em, have done this with their words and not their bodies. I really enjoy it seeing this type of stuff because I listen to these women as often as I do Lil' Wayne. So there is so many things that are allowed to women nowadays. If you can be a successful female rapper, what's stopping you from being anything?

Another Week

I feel as if women don't get the short end of the stick as many people think they do. I mean, women to me do control just about everything. Women have the ability to persuade men to do just about anything. I feel they use their gender as a crutch from time to time. Thinking that they don't have the power to do a certain thing only because they are a female. That really has nothing to do with it in this day and age.

Now don't get me wrong, women do have to deal with a bunch of dickheads and shovanistic pigs day in and day out but don't we all. I just believe women tend to worry about their status in the world a little bit too much, although their status is actually VERY high up there.
